See this video for what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIJ0tM9W8ys
Basically, freely rotate the canvas. |

That has been in Krita since forever: https://docs.krita.org/Navigation#Navigation
(Where forever is since 2.3: http://blog.cberger.net/2010/12/11/krit ... -rotation/ ) |

Why can't it have its own button like in Photoshop?

Because Krita isn't Photoshop? Really, the worst way to ask for something to change in Krita is to add "like in Photoshop". We're not trying to create a free version of Photoshop, we're trying to create a good painting application. If we'd try to copy all Photoshop's features first, we'd no longer have time for developing Krita.
People who are used to Painttool Sai ask for a scrollbar in the overview docker to do rotation, People who are used to Photoshop ask for a "button in the toolbar". And so everyone who has used another application before has this little thing or that little thing that they absolutely need to have copied to Krita. But Krita is Krita, not BlackPhotoPaintProToolPlusSaiMischiefPainterCanvasStudioShop. Just accept Krita as an application on its own and learn to use it as it is meant to be used. You'll be productive and have fun painting. (And in this case, the reason Adobe had to make it a button in the toolbox, a tool to be activated, is that that's the way Photoshop works. You want to do something, you have to have a tool. Krita's canvas rotation feature works no matter which tool is activated, which is better.) |

You will find amazing how many options and features are packed in Krita, try everything, experiment, there is also a manual with a plethora of information including tutorials and resources such as brushes, I mean for the price tag, can't be beaten. Now for the rotation, I don't understand what you mean by its own button, you have in fact three default shortcuts plus three numerical keys to interact with the rotation, and if that is not comfortable for you (but believe me, shift plus middle button drag-assuming you have button on the stylus- is just a second nature) then you can set any key you want, the number keys assigned for rotation 4 and 6 can be kept pressed for a continuous rotation, 5 key is reset. For changing them go to Settings>Configure Krita>Canvas Input Settings>Rotate Canvas. Hope it helps a little, I'm sure you will enjoy Krita if you give it a fair try ![]()

"what you mean by its own button"
In Photoshop, for whatever reason, but probably technical debt, canvas rotation is implemented as a tool, that means it's a button in the already overloaded toolbox. It means you cannot rotate the canvas while the paint tool is activated, for instance, you have to switch tools. It was very confusing for photoshop users when it was introduced, because it re-used an existing shortcut key and people ended up rotating their canvas and not having any idea how to reset the rotation. |

Wow that's cumbersome for sure, I didn't know that Boud, I wonder then why the OP thinks it could be and advantage, my thinking is that when people is accustomed to windows (not sure if mac is the same) the habit of clicking everywhere is rather strong, in comparison to shortcuts and keyboard navigation. not trying to be a fanboy here, simply is more intuitive and faster.
