Hi, there a problem with the krita version on Linux, normally on Windows when you will open a file or save a file with krita, krita uses the native windows explorer that allows to see a preview of the files that you have in a folder. The problem is that in Linux the krita explorer that use to open and save files doesn't have image preview as i see.
Its really unconfortable search pictures if i can't see what i'm searching and i have a lot of pics with random naes so have to open the nautlius, go to the place of the pics and see waht i wanna load, go to krita and select by the name. |

Hi IvanX507
Which Desktop environment are you using on linux, Kde plasma 5 has thumbnailing options for kra files, they can be enabled in settings. If you are using gnome based distro you have to enable the thumbnailing part . check this article -> http://www.davidrevoy.com/article194/kr ... le-browser |

I know that the normal explorer can load previews of .kra files, i'm talking of the internal explorer, the window that appears when you wanna load a file inside of krita, in windows use the native windows explorer but in linux use a qt navigator is suppose?. The problem is that navigator doesn't load the thumbnails. |

I would also like to know the solution to this mystery. I installed the deb files from David Revoy's site and now Nautilus has .kra thumbnails, which is awesome. But the open file dialog box still has no thumbnails, ie, if I click on a photo file, the thumbnail that typically pops open to the right isn't showing/doesn't work. Is this a gnome issue or Krita?

If you're running Krita from the appimage, then it uses the standard Qt file dialog, which doesn't show previews.

Thanks Boudjewin... I'll just go ahead and attempt David Revoy's tutorial on compiling it myself. It was something I was trying to avoid for loathe of the terminal lol, but at some point in time I have to face the gauntlet.

I use KDE and install Krita through ppa lime and you will have native windows showing previews when opening or saving images. David tutorial will help only on os file manager not with opening files through Krita.

in Ubuntu Studio 21.04 I use this guide https://moritzmolch.com/blog/1749.html and it works for me very well.

I also added previews to Qt's file dialog for Krita 5.
