G'MIC as filter masks?

Thu Jan 19, 2017 10:53 am
Hi,

I know that currently it's not supported, but I'd like to ask, if there are plans to introduce g'mic filters as filter masks.

Best regs.

No, that won't be possible. In order to filter pixels with g'mic, we need to copy all of them, into something that g'mic can understand. Then g'mic will need to run, and then the pixels need to be copied back. There is no way that that can be done fast enough to allow filter masks.

I see.
If I may I will compare it to PS: filters applied to smart objects are not fast too. I mean they're not meant for realtime editing, rather for automation - you have to edit smart object and save it to get filter applied, but last step is applied automatically so there is workflow enhancement because all settings are stored. Here in Krita this would be even better: without editing in separate window and saving.
