Hi I posted this in general help and didn't get any response I was told by a friend to try reposting it here.
Basically i'm having a really weird issue with Krita where it appears to get hung up on commands and will not let me interact with the canvas, I can change brushes or layers but cannot interact directly with the canvas in anyway. Trying to save will also result in a window with operation waiting to complete that'll stay forever, clicking close sometimes freezes Krita up as well, so i'm left with no options but to stop Krita from the task manager. I can't really pinpoint whats causing it, It's happening randomly, I can have no occurences for two days then it can suddenly come back and do it twice in the span of a minute or two, though it happens more often then not every hour or two. For PC Specs I have 10 gigs of RAM, 64 bit operating system, AMD FX 8350 Eight core processor 4.00ghz and it's running Windows 7. Thanks for any help, i'd greatly appreciate it!, this has basically slowed my drawing processes down to a halt recently. |

That sounds like there might be something processing in the background, but Krita isn't warning you of it? Like autosave, but that should show up in the status bar... I mean, the only other possibility is that you've got a selection that isn't very visible, hence the image seemingly being unresponsive, but that wouldn't explain why krita would crash on close.
If you cannot figure it out, it might be worth checking out if the 4.0 pre-alpha, or the 4.0 beta we'll be releasing in January might make a difference? We did change a lot with the saving code there, so it might work better. |

Will Do on the krita 4.0, by releasing January do you mean the beta's releasing then or the official version?.
It's defineitly not a selection in the background doing it, it's been happenign randomly while painting and all canvas operations cease to work, not just painting/erasing but also lasso's mirroring or isolating layers. I've also left it for a while at times to see if it manages to get past whatever process it's stuck on but it seems to stay stuck on it forever. It's possible it might have to do with the autosaving though, I don't see why this has started now though since i've been using Krita mostly fine (barring a lot of visual bugs but I think that's due to it's issues with AMD) since I last upgraded my PC in April, and not much has changed since. I'll try turning off autosave and maybe backup files, and see if that helps. |

Ok this is getting weirder and weirder.
For one, Krita has recently been randomly forgetting my keyboard shortcuts. The weirdest part about this is that it's not changing them to Krita defaults but to my old keyboard shotcuts which i'd been using for a long while. It's also forgetting my toolbar configs without fail on each reload of the program. Secondly and this has started today, it's taking a lot longer to start and if I try to start via certain files it's sometimes crashing on startup, it's bizarre. I'm gonna try completely wiping Krita from the PC, any trace of it(barring my files obviously.) |

Try resetting the configuration first. Uninstalling and reinstalling Krita only makes a difference if something damaged the installed files (some "security" packages can do that.)

Thanks!.
How do I do that? just click restore defaults on everything? |

Done it, thanks!. Can't tell if it's fixed anything but i'll give it a few days.
One thing that's still an issue though is that the toolbar config still isn't working right. Basically i'm trying to add the smoothing:basic and smoothing:stabilizer to the brushes & stuff bar, however once I close Krita it'll get rid of them, weirdly config toolbar still says they should be active on the bar, but I have to take them off the bar and readd them for them to reappear. |

That's a known bug: the issue is that those buttons belong to the freehand tool, and on startup, there' s no freehand tool yet when Krita constructs the toolbar. I haven't managed to find a proper fix yet.

Ah Ok. Weird, David Revoy mentioned doing it as a tip in one of his vids, unless he meant to do so on every krita startup.

Ok it seems to have fixed the settings resetting, but i'm still having the issue with the canvas not responding, i've also tried using Krita with autosave and backup files turned off and it has the same effect.
edit:it also just pulled this weird bug where it refused to recognize the eraser brushes as erasers, instead treating them like regular brushes, went away on it's own, but still weird. Not sure if it's related. |

OK I tried using Krita 4.0 alpha and still no luck, same bug so I don't believe it's version related.
I still can't find any pattern to it either, it just seems to randomly happen while drawing or painting. |

Bumping this up since i'm still having the issue.
Is there anymore information on it I can send?, I've created a small video showing some of the problems with it i can upload if you need it though i'm not sure how useful it'd be. |
