Krita have next template categories: animation, comic, design, DSLR and texture.
Can we instead of "design templates" category to insert 4 new? 1. Print for print design, 2. Desktop Screen for designing desktop apps or websites, 3. Device screen for designing mobile, tablet, or smart watch apps and 4. Social media graphic category for designing social stuff like youtube cover) Gravit designer have some nice collection of templates so I made for Krita those dimensions with some changes in desktop and device screen categories since we have vector drawing I set the smallest canvas sizes in dot unit, because that is how you design today for device screen. You make the smallest vector design so you can make it bigger depend on your need. Print (mm, 300ppi, cmyk): 4A0 (1682 x 2378) 2A0 (1189 x 1682) A0 (841 x 1189) A1 (594 x 841) A2 (420 x 594) A3 (297 x 420) A4 (210 x 297) A5 (148 x 210) A6 (105 x 148) A7 (74 x 105) A8 (52 x 74) A9 (37 x 52) A10 (26 x 37) Business Card (85x55) Postcard (148x105) Desktop Screen (px, 72ppi, rgb): Small (1024 x 768) Normal (1280 x 800) Medium (1366 x 768) Large (1440 x 900) FullHD (1920 x 1080) 2k (2048 x 1080) 4k (4096 x 2160) Device Screen (dp, 72ppi, rgb): Smartphone (360x640) Tablet (600x960) Smart Watch (187x187) Social Media Graphic (px, 72ppi, rgb) Facebok Cover (851x315) Twitter Cover (1500x500) YouTube Cover (2560x1440) Google+ Cover (1080x608) LinkedIn Cover (1440x425) Twitch Cover (900x480) Twitter Post (1024x512) Instagram Post (1080x1080) Facebook Post (940x788) Facebook App (810x450) Facebook Ad (1200x627) Pinterest Pin (735x600) Tumblr Graphic (540x810) Twitch Video (1206x708) LinkedIn Baner (646x220) Beside that I think template system is not smart. If I choose one template from category then select one from list I can't change his settings I have a need to change orientation or dimensions, resolution or units, nothing of that, I can only use that template. If I click on custom document I would not see settings of that template but new one. I can select predefined image sizes but there are no sizes like in templates from categories. So I think the best would be if there is a drop down list on the left side with categories and templates and on the right side always visible settings for template you choose like with custom document. |

You can make your own templates by creating the image in question, and then going file->template from image.

That is cool but then we would need a lot of template files, maybe it is better if there is some logic in Krita that will make this list upgradable. I don't know maybe xml or json file with one list where we can add new categories (group) name of template and dimension for each so Krita can understand that list. Like predefined under image size but also possibility to select color model for each preset.
I think It need to be upgradable because there are so many standard dimensions many country have its own standards for business cards, papers, letters, all kind of print sruff so why to have only uk or us based sizes. So with this file I think we can easily add a lot more presets. So that leftside dropdown menu would be instead of dropdown select button that we have under image size. I made a mockup just to show what I'm talking about, click on the link below. https://ibb.co/gRn6Rm |

It's been long since Krita should have hired somebody to fix the UI and design in general. I would enjoy working with something that looks like something from the works of these guys *link removed by moderator*

That's an illustration company, not a UX design company. Furthermore, we do have UX people working on Krita. However template stuff needs the resource management rewrite to happen first. Unless you mean the look of the widgets, in which case that uses the QT default look on windows and Breeze on Linux with Plasma Desktop. Designing a separate widget look is really complicated and far beyond our budget. |

But UX and design are closely tight together. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

Not the way those very confused people you linked to seem to think. Maybe they're just really bad at English, but there's no relation between "illustration" and UX design. UX design is about function, not form. Besides, I think you're misunderstanding how Krita is developed: it's still mostly a volunteer project, even though Dmitry and I are now working on Krita full-time. How much money do you think there is for hiring people? Krita isn't developed by a company, but by a community. And how much time do you think we'd have for rewriting the entire gui so you can have an android-lookalike app on your desktop? |
