Texture for whole brush's stroke

Tue Jan 23, 2018 10:25 am
One feature I would see in brush textures is an option to layer the pattern to whole stroke, instead of individual dab.
There's a wish in the bug tracker related to it: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375155
But it's weird, because the situation is actually opposite. In Krita, texture is applied per dab - texture layers on itself every dab and becomes stronger, if I keep making stroke over it or when lowering brush's spacing.
If it was applied per stroke, texture would have same transparency on whole stroke, no matter how much dabs are placed.

This function is useful, when I want to have clearly visible texture, to make it look like the original; texture, with keeping hard edges.
I can sort of achieve this effect with lowering texture's brightness and brush's flow, but it will make edges softer, especially with scattering.

I've made a visualization what I want to achieve. On the left is brush with default applying method, has lowered brightness and flow. On the right is brush with texture applier for whole stroke, without lowering any transparency.
