animation and layer mask idea

Wed Jan 24, 2018 2:28 pm
Hello,
I know its more a question of developing time than idea but I'd like to share some ideas about animation and layer mask...

It would be cool to use the transform mask to animate the properties of a paint layer,
Also we could use an alpha mask to animate the opacity in the same way which will be simpler that the current solution with the animation docker, the keyframes will also be more easily moveable...

Also something annoying with the timeline is that you don't see which layer is mark as show in timeline, some checkbox before the name of the layer could be a good idea (see screenshot)

Thanks

This is currently the design direction we are heading for doing animation transforms and opacity.

https://phabricator.kde.org/M40

We just don't have any programmers able to work on this right now. The few that are working on Krita are working on getting 4.0 out the door right now. If a lot of people start wanting animation improvements, we will probably start going in this direction in 4.x. Of course if a volunteer picks it up and sends us a patch, that can make it get done as well.
