Krita thumbnails do not appear on OneDrive

I currently use OneDrive to store all of my .kra files. After a recent OneDrive upgrade, the thumbnails no longer appear as images, which makes for problems as they don't appear as images in Krita either. To keep track of my artwork, I have to copy all my .kra files to a local folder that is being managed by Windows, where the thumbnails do appear as images.

I contacted Microsoft support, and they passed the buck: "You may please ask the developer of this software to allow the access to these files in OneDrive. Here is the link for Krita support Team."

Is this in fact a Krita issue, or a OneDrive issue? It would be great to be able to restore this functionality so I can manage my Krita files in OneDrive.

Thanks!

Well, _logically_ if there are two components, A and B, and a problem appears after A is updated, the problem isn't in B... I haven't got a clue, but maybe Alvin has, though.

It would definitely be due to changes in OneDrive since none of the inner-workings of the shell extension stuff has changed and that it still works with local files for you.

Can you take two screenshots showing the Krita files in your OneDrive folder as seen in Windows Explorer, one each in "Tiles View" and "Details View" respectively? Perhaps also take the same screenshots with the files are copied to a local folder, for comparison.

This might be asking for a bit too much, but can you also disable the option "Hide extension for known file types" before taking the screenshots? It can be disabled this way: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/show-file-extensions-in-windows

Alvin -

Thanks for your quick reply. Here are urls for the four screenshots you requested, and I cleared the "Hide File Extensions" checkbox as you requested.

I look forward to hearing back if there is a solution you can suggest.

Alvin-

I passed along to MS Support your links to the web chatter about unsupported file types. After having initially suggested it was a Krita issue, I have now received a more honest reply:

"Hi David,

Thanks for working so keenly with us.

I have consulted my supervisors regarding krita file issue however, these files are not supported in OneDrive as of now. This is the reason thumbnails are not displayed.

We have forwarded this case to our Engineering so that they can get a close watch on it. However, you can go to this link and update the query: http://onedrive.uservoice.com/forums/262982-onedrive
We’ll add your suggestion to the list of ideas we’re considering for implementation. "

This is very annoying, as I have 5 gigs of image files stored on OneDrive with no images attached to the thumbnails. Perhaps other users with a similar issue can let MS know as well.

Thanks for your help!

So Microsoft broke onedrive by making sure 3rdparty shell extensions aren't working in explorer when showing onedrive folders... That's so weird!

Also the Krita 4.03 dmg gives a damaged error
