The current way to input vector text into Krita is absolute codswallop. Why should we have to click on the SVG text tool, then click on the text we want to edit, then the tool options, then the "edit text" button before we can actually edit the text? The older way was perfectly fine, just double clicking on the text should let us edit it.
Not only that, but the text tool is even more broken and overly convoluted; suppose you've set a font or a text size in a text box, then you want to change what the text says. So you delete the text, only to see that after you removed that last letter the text font has now changed BACK to MS Shell Dlg 2 and the size back to 8. Why? Keep the font as it was! Just because you've removed the text doesn't mean the font should change! Aligning Center while having two lines of text is also broken, any time you edit a text box with the align center option that also contains more than one line of text (i.e you've pressed enter to create a new line) then the second line then connects back up to the first with not a space between them. You also cannot resize the text with the Select Shapes Tool, you have to use the transform tool, which is fine, but the little squares and icons when selecting vector text with the SS Tool seems to suggest you should be able to resize it. I still do not understand why the Krita Team decided to change all of this in (3.0? Not sure.) I've literally not updated to anything past 3.2 on my other laptop solely because of this reason. It's just so frustrating to use. I get that this program is more designed for drawing and creating and all, but text is still extremely important in a program like this and it's a shame to see it being done like this. Anyway, hopefully the team listens to this. Sorry if I'm coming across as extremely frustrated, I still love the app and still use it regularly anyway. Love your work, Krita Team, keep it up! |

Although Current one lacks features and not easy to use, it's still better than old one.
I can't even type on old one because the font size are all wrong, and texts are jumping around The text tool is still under development. Devs understand the problems. They planned to fix a lot of bugs in 2018 so there are not much new features added. We might see new features in 2019 so hope text tool'll be better next year
