(Typically before submitting a bug or wishbug I ask on IRC if the topic has already been discussed or if it's worth bringing up, but I've been asked if I could open a thread on the forums)
In Krita, vector (editable) rich text can be added. Has anybody thought of making text URLs clickable or is this planned? The SVG specification allows hyperlinks (Example here), so this could be possibly be part of SVG support that is already in Krita in a partial form, as even shown in the SVG tab in text editor popup (see image below). Unfortunately trying to add URLs directly from the SVG code as of now makes the text disappear. ![]() This won't work yet in Krita, unfortunately The idea for this came along when I made some sketches while following a few video tutorials and I thought it would be useful if I could directly refer to them directly from the Krita file in the future, next time I will reopen it. Note taking is just a possible use, but many other cases could apply as well. Perhaps this could even be used to link other local files, so one could have a sort of "map" or interactive "index" of some resources within a Krita file. Of course, at that point URLs might not be limited to text, but also other vector elements; the text editor seems the place where it would be the easiest to add from a UI perspective, though. Possible difficulties might includes backwards compatibility with old Krita versions and security issues. |

I don't know what's planned for Krita but if you want notemaking and a map/index to websites and documents (hypermindex?) right now, you can do that in Libre Office Writer/Impress (staying with FOSS). In those, you can create/edit text and hyperlink buttons that will open a .html-file/website in a browser or a .kra file in Krita (or any other file in its default application).

More than making of Krita a full-fledged visual note taking application (or perhaps even website design app - I'm no expert there but I can imagine it could be a possible use for this) the main idea would be adding more interactive notes and references where needed, which can often happen for example when sketching analytically.
