Few ideas on Assistant Tool

1. Exclude Eraser from snapping.
I have to erase parts of lines that are sticking out when drawing with assistants and it's hard to do that fast because the eraser snaps to the assistant as well. Maybe an additional option under the Snap to Assistants in Tool Settings of Bruth tool would be good enough.

2. Make 'Selection tools + Lines/Rectangle/Ellipse/Polygon/Polyline Tools' snap to Assistant.
It will greatly save people's time when they have to use Assistant to draw something.

3. Make Assistant as Mask, such as Filter Mask or Transparency Mask. Which means those can be tied to specific layers and can only affect on those layers. When making comic people need to use different perspectives for backgrounds per panels, and the current way krita handles Assistant makes it a bit less flexible.

Just a wish. I would be glad if you consider. Thanks for keep developing.

The concept of 'Mask' seems 'transforming the layer', I understand. Then it would be confusing to add assistant feature as a mask.

It might just be able to be like local selection.

The assistants on layer thing is something we've had on several fundraisers now, but it never won the vote.

For the other two, the first one would require figuring out whether the current brush mode is eraser and needs a little usability work. The second requires a bit more work as right now the assistant tool code is only called within the freehand code, much like the stablizer.

tayloryoung, you made fantastics notes here.

For 1 I think a little further. How about a temporarly key switching the "Snap to Assistant" ON/OFF? Like the [V] key for the Line.
It could be [S] for example. When "Snap to Assis..." is ON holding [S] turn it OFF, when it's OFF [S] turn it ON. It will be a more flexible and solve your problem with the eraser.

2 will make Krita even more professional!

3 will make Krita a dream!

It will cost 2 clicks to erase something in the way you described. I'd prefer my original suggestion. (And 'Turning on/off snapping to assistant' kinda already exists in Krita as a shortcut.)

Thanks for the opinion though. :)

do you think it will be good to have a key to clear the screen? I don't know but i have clip studio and they have a key command to delete it or clear the screen? Just a thought.

The Del/Delete key will clear the contents of a paint layer or selected region or delete a selected vector object.
It's better to ask this sort of question as a new topic in the General Help section.
