Apologize for my bad English in advance.
I hope to be able to create custom shapes in krita quickly and use it easily. For the concept of the environment, using a custom shape to construct a picture is a very practical and very important method, which can effectively improve the efficiency of painting. I used to use photoshop before, but unfortunately krita does not seem to have such a feature at the moment. I know that krita has a vector library to implement the functions of saving vector graphics and using them in painting, but it is quite different from the custom shape created by photoshop. It is not convenient to create shapes and use them. I don't know if you have already added this feature to the development plan. I really hope that this feature will be implemented soon. Krita has brought me surprises in many aspects. I am also gradually transferring my work to krita. I hope that it will continue to improve some of the necessary functions to better adapt to the needs of conceptual designers and artists. The description of the text may still be very abstract. You can refer to the following painting videos. These videos demonstrate how to use custom shapes to paint in photoshop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suFkZ3AY0TU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQMjncMQKZY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeaOQqN-Ak8 |

Hi Seath,
Welcome to Krita Forums, If not exactly like the custom shape, we do have a brush to get organic shapes for thumbnailing. It is called shape brush. In the default brush preset list search for a brush named "t) Shapes FIll". This brush helps in creating interesting shapes quickly. it also helps you to make small thumbnails. This brush is inspired by the alchemy software. You can take a look at the demonstrations in the videos below (hey are not done in Krita but they explain the concept of using this brush) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUacypN9h5c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3xKYY72ITg For the vector library you can create a svg filled with all your assorted shapes and put this svg in the symbols folder. You can access the symbol folder by going to Settings > Manage resources and then clicking on the Open resource folder button. The file manager will open the folder for you there you can see the symbols folder. I agree that it would be nice if we can make the shapes in vector library from Krita Itself and developers are aware of this shortcoming, I hope some volunteer will implement this in future. We already have a way to make selection into a shape and it wold definitely be nice to add that shape to vector library. Until then you can use the shape fill brush, It won't have pre defined shapes but it is really good for making organic concept thumbnails, which can be then further refined and made into final illustration Hope it helps. thanks |
