Transform is a tool that I use a lot in digital art, whether it's Krita or Photoshop or CSP or any other program. But unfortunately Krita makes it more annoying than anything else I've tried.
This is because, for some reason, it needs a HUGE amount of space to actually display the various buttons I need. I cannot find any satisfactory way around this: either I give up a ridiculous amount of screen space to the tool options window, or I shrink it or put it in a tab (realistically both, because no other single window I use needs so much space!) and waste loads of time clicking on it and scrolling around to do things like: select "scale", lock proportions, and click "reset" or "apply". It may not seem like a lot when you test it briefly but when I'm doing a lot of sketches and frequently selecting and transforming it makes Krita a huge pain to use. Compare to photoshop, when I use the transform tool and have all the buttons appear in a narrow strip at the top of the screen, and can click on any of them without having to scroll. This does not work in Krita. Sure, I can technically put it in a narrow strip, but nothing is really rearranged so all it means is more scrolling to see the buttons. |

Hello, you can change the option to have the "tool options" in a button of the toolbar instead of having it in a docker, maybe it is better for your problem...

Further to the advice from mcoudert : Using Settings -> Configure Toolbars, you can move the Tool Options button in the Toolbar to put it at the far left so that it doesn't obscure your canvas when it's open.
As an alternative, that works with other tools as well, you can press the Tab key to go into Canvas Only mode and all dockers are removed to give you a larger workspace/canvas. Then press the Tab key again to get your dockers back. |
