Greetings all, Sammy here,
Using Krita 4.2.8, when I draw a vector inside a vector on the same layer, I can no longer select the inner vector, only the outer vector using the Select Shape Tool or Edit Shape Tool. To get around this, I'll select the outer vector, cut it, paste it to another layer, then I can select/edit the inner vector. I've confirmed this issue on Windows 10 and Linux Mint. I realize that selecting shapes is based on the surrounding rectangle, and my workout works fine. However, this is a minor issue. Great program. Sammy |

When you draw a vector shape inside another vector shape on the same layer, that newer and smaller vector shape will be 'above' the first vector shape and so you can select it by clicking on it using the Select Shape tool.
If you've already selected the lower, larger vector shape then clicking anywhere anywhere in it will be a click on the selected shape. You'd need to click in a blank area to deselect the larger shape before clicking on the newer smaller shape. For a situation where the larger shape is above the smaller shape, then you can't select the lower, smaller shape. To deal with that, select the larger shape and then do right-click -> Send To Back and it will be moved to the back (lowest level) of the shape stack, under the smaller shape. Then you can deselect it and then select the smaller shape. |

Excellent feedback from ahabgreybeard.
Basically, shapes in a Krita document are just like HTML objects with Z Order. I tried out your solution of sending an overlaying vector Send to Back, and I'm able to select the inner vector/now top vector. Thanks. Sammy |
