Just wanted to revisit this. I've been using the color reference layers for a couple weeks now, and it's been a massive time saver and all-around godsend. I'm very happy it's been implemented and I've been telling every artist I can that it's been added and about how it works.

Hi, I'm glad it's useful. Btw I implemented the second feature (selection as boundary, like in Photoshop and some other programs) recently as well. It's available for testing in Krita Plus builds (both fill tool and magic wand tool, there is a checkbox "use selection as boundary"). Please tell me if you have any remarks.
