Hi,
I've been testing Plasma Next on my Dell Precision M90 by installing Project Neon 5 (dailies) for few days now. Unfortunately, stability and performance problems make it completely unusable for me (of course I didn't expect it to work as my production environment) . Here are some of the problem I've encountered: - There are some graphical glitches that appear repeatedly during loading screen, but only on my external monitor - My desktop is black. I'm not sure if there should have been wallpaper or not since I didn't check settings - Plasma Next doesn't respect my nVidia settings. For example, I have disabled my laptop's screen at nVidia settings but I get two screens anyway. (This problem doesn't occur with KDE 4 Plasma). I can't change my primary display etc. - KDE's own display configuration program crashes immediately when I try to run it (it just says "Sorry" at title bar. I can't see the content of error dialog) - KDE Launcher (the "Start menu"), like rest of the desktop is very slow. It takes multiple seconds to open it and switch to any submenu. So far I haven't even been able to open "Utilities" -submenu. Trying to do sometimes freezes it permanently, sometimes for only dozens of seconds. - At any point desktop may crash. Here is the support info: http://paste.kde.org/p1amaxv7h My OS is 32-bit Kubuntu 14.04. My graphics card is Quadro FX 2500M. I use proprietary drivers (version 304.117). OpenGL version string is "OpenGL version string: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 304.117". |

Can you verify if kded5 is running or not and manually start it? I think it looks related Thanks! |

Hello again and sorry for not answering, I have switched computer and have been busy etc. etc.
I just tested Plasma 2 again with Dell Precision M90 and Plasma 2 is now lot more usable for me. I have to test again with external monitor when I'm at home just to be sure. KDE launcher seems to work now. It seems to work pretty well now and it's very useful. Wallpaper works fine too (I guess there wasn't any problem with it to begin it). I still have some problem though. I can't connect to wireless network. When I try to press connect button, nothing happens. And nVidia settings still don't work. When I try to change resolution and press apply, nvidia-settings just crashes.
I'm not sure if it was installed back then but the problem went away later when I updated. I installed kded5 separately later too and now it's running. The error I get with nvidia-settings is this: The program 'nvidia-settings' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'. (Details: serial 671 error_code 2 request_code 158 minor_code 25) |

Can you try recreating the Network Management settings, particularly if you upgraded this user profile from KDE 4.x to ensure it isn't a inconsistent configuration file preventing you from connecting to the network?
