Hi Ron,
I'm not a specialist of the new plasma 5 but have you checked if the folder .project-neon5-kde gets erased when you purge your system ? Cheers, Patrick |

Please post the content of ~/.xsession-errors, and also verify that "plasma-shell" and "ksmserver5" are running on your system once the login process has frozen. You'll need to login on a virtual terminal and use tools such as "ps" or "top" to check this.

I see a couple of problems in there:
1) You are running as root. Running KDE as root is an unsupported configuration. 2) Virtuoso is not available on your system 3) It seems there is a mix of KDE 4 and Plasma 5 running here. What type of session are you trying to start?

Ben's referring to this virtuoso: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtuoso_Universal_Server Nepomuk relies on it as database. |

how would you use a virtual terminal? noob here...lol thanx Ade |

Ctrl+Alt+F1 moves you to VT1, X11 (the graphical interface) is usually on VT7 (but can in theory be anywhere)
You'll there face sth. that looks like a fullscreen konsole window. |
