Hi there,
I would like to switch to Plasma 5, but one of the major blockers for me is support for GTK2 and GTK3 apps in the Plasma 5 system tray. I read over this information... http://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2 ... ray-icons/ http://notmart.org/blog/2014/06/systemt ... t-and-gtk/ ...but frankly I don't understand what actually needs to be done by the distro packagers (I use openSUSE) to actually implement this. Does every single GTK2/GTK3 app need to be coded to work with libappindicator or statusnotifier? Or is it a matter of compiling GTK2 / GTK3 with support for those libraries, and the apps will work automatically? And in general, how much work will this be to implement for distro maintainers and packagers? Thanks! |

So far the GNOME team (to my knowledge, at least) in openSUSE hasn't pushed the appindicator patches, meaning that for now there's no support for Status Notifiers in GTK+.
