SHIFT + Alt + F12

Ctrl+Alt+F12 takes you to VT12 (Ctrl+Alt+F7 will take you back to VT7, where X11 usually resides)

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
is this causing my problems if so how do I fix this

In a few hours Plasma 5.2 will be released in dvratil/plasma-5 repo which should resolve any longstanding conflicts. The easiest way to resolve Fedora related bugs would be #fedora-kde.
