Apparently also LG TVs:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1005280 Either the EDIDs are all the same junk (160:90 - seems they put the aspect there...) or this could be some sort of failed hdmi handshake (try other cables. yes: that sounds and is stupid) xrandr --dpi 90 or xrandr --fbmm <realwidth>x<realheight> might fix it, but you'll (likely) have to restart plasmashell (the process! I'm pretty sure logging out and in will fail) afterwards. One could do this in some login script... |

d_ed on IRC proposed a patch to Qt, to do it the same way GTK+ does.

Ok, now I'm curious: how does the gtk+ solution obtain the true screen panel sizes?

HighDPI is only enabled if the screen height > 1280. I think that's completely wrong, though. |

Will fail if - one of these screens has a pivot mode (height is 1920px) - one actually has a Hi-Res 7" FullHD screen I assume such heuristic could provide a default, but one has to be able to override it. "True" fix would probably be to IgnoreEDID and set proper dimensions/resolution in xorg.conf snippets, but that's not very end-user friendly HDMI sucks. |

In fact I have a pivoted screen at work, and that workaround would probably bite me.

I hope that a fix/workaround can be found before Kubuntu is released I would love to be able to run it.

Good news: David found a solution: http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=plasma-frame ... b9fd8cfa41 and I can confirm that it works |

Great news then! I will stay a little bit more in KDE 4 until the solutions is implemented, but I want to thank you for taking into consideration this matter and find a fix. Greetings.

Thanks awesome, thanks guys. Hopefully the fix makes it into the next Kubuntu beta at the end of the month.
