There are some more add-ons that are still not ported to Plasma 5. Personally I miss spellcheck, bookmarks in Plasma 5.
I reported a wishlist bug about spellcheck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353444
but it was closed RESOLVED INVALID.

As more users miss there favourite add-ons I wish KDE team gave more attention to it.

Perhaps 181 is the same as 161
https://todo.kde.org/?controller=task&a ... ask_id=181

You can find progress of porting Plasma add-ons here (after login)
https://todo.kde.org/?controller=board& ... ject_id=11

I hope there are some volunteers who can make it.

Great news: Both Weather and Picture Frame (now called Media Frame) were added in Plasma 5.6! They're even better than the ones in KDE 4... thank you devs :) RSS would be the only one left in my book.

I've just tested the Media Frame applet. It works fine, except when I disable "Randomize items". I want to have the pictures displayed in the alphabetic filenames order, but the applet continues to play them in the random order, despite the check box "Randomize items" cleared.

At long last! Fedora 23 included the Media Frame widget and it works fine!

...and now for my inevitable 'but' ... I wish it would automagically sense/switch between landscape and portrait images and flip the window dimensions accordingly, rather than squooshing the portrait format images to the landscape format height. Otherwise, I am well pleased.

I do have the same 'randomize' issue reported by gillesh; even when deselected, images appear to still be displayed randomly.

Kudos and much appreciation for everyone who made this widget resurrection possible!

RSSNOW for Plasma 5

This is a rewrite of RSSNOW plasmoid/applet compatible with Plasma 5...

Seems to compile/work with the Plasma 5.8.4 (Arch/AUR):

Interesting... thank you for sharing this! RSS is pretty much the only essential addon that's still missing from the plasma-addons package... is it making a comeback officially? Also, will it be on the KDE store until then, so that it can be installed from the normal addon installation menu?

By today most of the old plasmoids have been ported. The only thing still missing is an official RSS widget... for which you may take a look at my improved version of the Simple RSS Reader here: https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1205062
