When I do the right click on Kickoff and select 'Edit Applications', KDE Menu Editor doesn't allow me to edit 'Command' line so I can add custom item for starting an application. What am I doing wrong?

You added a "New Submenu" (Editing of Command disabled), not a "New Item" (Editing of Command enabled)?
