Hi,
two days ago I have switched from KDE4 to Plasma 5 on my Thinkpad T420 i7 running Arch Linux. I love the new look and feel but got some trouble after a while. The windows started flickering and after I have started and 1080p movie the laptop was abruptly off (temperature hard off). My first idea was to clean the fan. So I disasambled the whole laptop, cleaned everything and put new thermal compound on the cpu. Now the situation isn't much better. Without any considerable work the temperature is rising up to 65°C. With htop I can see that the cpu load is > 1.0 I killed xinit and started to find the reason. Before installing Plasma 5 everything was ok. Without X Server started in tty terminal only htop is less than 0.15 and the core temperatures are falling under 43°C. So what is the reason plasma 5 is so enervating? Any ideas ? Best regards Pascal |
