How to create symbols?

Wed May 27, 2015 9:22 pm
Hello everyone,

with KDE 4 as well as plasma 5.1 the following was possible:

(1) Unlock the desktop
(2) Open a programm, e.g., eclipse
(3) drag&drop the icon from the taskbar to the desktop
→ a new symbol/link is created which allows to start the program from the desktop.

However, this feature seems to got lost somewhere between 5.1 and 5.3. Is there a new/another way to create such program starters?

Thanks in advance. :)

If you use Kicker as application launcher, you should be able to right-click on an entry and choose "Add to Desktop".
The default Kickoff should have that option too I suppose, but it seems to have got lost:

You can always manually create an "Icon" plasmoid on the desktop though (via "Add Widgets") and configure it to launch the application you like.
