In KDE 4 there were two useful features that are no longer there: different desktop backgrounds per virtual desktop and different plasmoids per virtual desktops.
The different desktop backgrounds are useful as in it allowed me to quickly know (without looking at the pager) what desktop I was on. But if it doesn't return, it's not super crucial. I *did* really make a lot of use out of the different widgets, though. See, for example, my Multimedia desktop: http://www.ericsbinaryworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/20150428-Multimedia-Activity-Desktop-1.png http://www.ericsbinaryworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/20150428-Multimedia-Activity-Desktop-2.png http://www.ericsbinaryworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/20150428-Multimedia-Activity-Desktop-3.png My purpose is not so much to whine about a change as to inquire if this is truly never coming back. I saw someone on reddit say it wasn't coming back. Does anyone know if that's permanent? If so, that's OK. For me the end result would be to double the number of activities from 7 to 14 as I usually had 3 VDs, but one was always dedicated to the web browser. So, instead of multimedia activity, I'd have music activity and video activity. Thanks for any info that any devs or people who follow the dev mailing lists can contribute. Also, if you know if it's been debated, that's helpful so I know whether it's worth putting in a wishlist bug. |

It's tagged "wontfix", so the status quo is: "not gonna happen again" - but i don't have a crystal ball either btw: under the hood you simply had used n*m activities on KDE 4 anyway. |

Ah, that's sad. At least activities don't seem to be the CPU burden they were under KDE4. |
