In KDE 4 there were system settings that allowed to you automount disks when you logged in. However there is no option for this in KDE 5 that I can find (running netrunner 16). Is there a GUI way (without messing with fstab) to have drives automount when you login? Am I missing something?
I found a very complicated answer (which I didn't try) to the identical question here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2275389 ...I've loved KDE for about 10 years now, but surely that can't be the answer. Please don't regress. Thanks! |

KF5

Meanwhile The KF5 users, who want to automount, are using the KDE4 tools: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthrea ... auto-mount or Gnome tools: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthrea ... ting-fstab |

Thanks.
Yes, these steps worked: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthrea ... post371603 1) Change the /usr/share/kde4/services/kded/device_automounter.desktop line X-KDE-Kded-phase=1 to X-KDE-Kded-phase=0 2) Start 'Removable Device Automounter' from the Service Manager. Command: kcmshell4 kcmkded. 3) Pick the right options from the KDE 'Removable Devices module'. Command: kcmshell4 device_automounter_kcm ...not very user friendly anymore, but hope it will be fixed someday. Cheers |

This doesn't work anymore unless you also run kded4 which doesn't happen by default. Rather than figure out how to do that automatically at boot, I' just moved on and edited /etc/fstab directly. For less technical users though, this "solution" is hardly ideal.
Accordingly, I've filed an issue requesting that this KCM be ported over at: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361877 I'd appreciate a show of support from anyone else who could help with this or would use it. Thanks! |
