File search in the app-starter

Sat Jun 27, 2015 9:12 am
Hi,

I just recently started using KDE for the first time, I'm running KDE Plasma 5 using the manjaro-archlinux derivate.

I was wondering if it is possible to search for files in the app-starter, just as one searches for the apps. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Yesm it is possible. You need to have the KF5 version of the search framework (Baloo) and the corresponding KRunner extension installed. Once it has indexed the files, you'll be able to search for them there. (Check System Settings > Search to see if indexing is enabled).

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason, krunner doesn't find any files. "Find" in Dolphin doesn't either. File search is activated in system settings -> search.

Is there any other place I need to activate file indexing or another setting?

//edit: works now - don't know why :) Thanks for your help!
