Hi,
when i play games i disable desktop effects (ctrl+shift+F12). Lately (a couple of month) i noticed that when the desktop effects are disabled the desktop panel will not get updated anymore. I can click the elements, as if they were visible but i have to guess where they are. The panel shows the stat from before i disabled the desktop effects (i guess). I tried to delete the plasma configs and the cache files already which helped for a couple of "switches" but now it'S back to not working. On more thing i notice. Directly after switching of effects the color of the panel changes to a darker color. This also happened when it worked but usually the panel color changed again and then it worked. But now the panel is stuck in the "in between mode". I am out of ideas what this could be. My system: Archlinux 64 Bit Nvidia GForce GTX 275 (Driver 340.93) Regards |

Does the panel update when resuming the compositor again?
What happens if you resize the panel? (Though it's certainly hard to get there blindly...) |

Yes instantly.
It updates (and keeps updating), so works like intended. That's interesting, never tried that. |

Does this happen with any other window (notably anything using either OpenGL or even QtQuick)?
It sounds like "something" (and in this case "the driver") doesn't notice that the (particular?) window is unredirected... |

Nop, haven't noticed it with any other window. Any concrete application i could test it with?

"kcmshell5 kwindecoration" - has a QtQuick view.

Looks normal to me.

@luebking do you have any idea what i can do about it?
|
|
Not really. Random wild shot:
run "kcmshell5 kwineffects" and disable "blur" and "contrast" effects. plasmashell's reloading of the theme when switching the compositor state may be a cause, but i've no idea how to prevent/trigger that w/o altering the libplasma code. w/o the above it will however not hop two theme variants. The desktop itself does still update? |

Sadly that didn't help.

Also a bug has been reported
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353983 Can you attach the output of "qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation" there (or paste it somewhere if you've no bugzilla account)? |

Have the same problem. Systray is not updating too.
It doesn't happen immediately after restart -- after some time.
