When I am viewing all the virtual desktops (via desktop grid), the virtual desktop currently under the mouse will oversize the application larger than the virtual desktop. I can't seem to find a selection under System Settings>Workspace Behavior>Desktop Effects to change the effect.

Plasma 5.5
Frameworks 5.16
KDE apps 15.08.3

The hovered window is slightly scaled up to indicate the hover - that's not configurable (and was introduced in 5.5 because of complaints that there's no such indication)
From your description I take it's the only and maximized window on that desktop?
=> So why would that be a problem?

Sometimes I use the Desktop grid to view all the desktops for troubleshooting. I can see one program per desktop very clearly. With the new arrangement the oversized program covers up parts of the other programs in the other desktops...meaning info gets covered up unless I continually move from desktop to desktop.
Why can't there be an option to enable/disable this new change like the other effects? I preferred the previous way of just slightly highlighting the current desktop under the mouse or hovering. Where do I need to go and ask for a change?

It's not configurable because nobody considered this a problem anywhere.
Anyway, you should have some padding between the desktops (which is configurable, "Border width") - raising that a bit should prevent occlusion.

Where do I need to go and ask for a change? Others were asked what they preferred.

That's not a fix....just a bandaid. It creates dead space in between desktops...meaning the desktops are smaller. Thanks for the Reply!

You'd need to file a bug against kwin (effects-windowmanagement), put given the specific scenario, the fairly limited impact and the padding availability (and that loosing few more pixels by this will hardly harm your specific setup with maximized windows everywhere anyway), it might end up "worksforme"/"wontfix".

I frankly don't know what you mean by that. The "complaint" that "i didn't know that I can activate the windows from desktop grid" was merely mentioned and we carried over the behavior from present windows to improve that.

One of those patches clamps the zoom, (so technically a single maximized window will not or almost not zoom)

This issue has been resolved! I updated to Plasma 5.6.1 and the old way is back!
Thanks

The zoom indication has simply been reverted entirely:

nb. that I left KDE & KWin
