When I first used kde the most cool thing I found is that kde adapts with the user actions. I'm not a expert so I don't know how to tell exactlly what I mean with adapt, but let me try. Things like when you open kate, or any other window for instance, and it opens not maximazed and then you maximaze it and close. When the same program is opponned again it must open maximazed, this is not happening now. Other example is when you search for something in places or in apps, the most used app or file becomes the more upper option in the list. This is not happening anymore.
It is like kde have become idiot for now. I think you get the point, kde is not adapting with the user making chooses and making it easier after, it's not "learning" anymore. I'm using kubuntu 15.10 and with another user this thing works great, but not with mine. I think there's some sort of configuration that I must have disabled or anything. I don't want to lose all my configuration, just want kde learning again. Is there any way to proceed? Thanks! |

I don't think this is a hard one guys. Please, help-me!

Sounds like you lack (some) write permissions in ~/.config and/or ~/.local - kate should write ~/.config/katerc (and update the [MainWindow] section)
Alternatively your paths are borked, check "kf5-config --path config" PS: Your second "why did I not get a response over nigth" post seriously doesn't make a very good entry here. |

Sorry about that last post. I don't think this is something related only with kate. All that is open doesn't reopen at the way that it was closed, the sizes of windows are stuck in a single way, seens that the thing that makes kde store theese data is not working, or the data can't be read anymore. It also aplies for the searched items in the aplication launcher, comands stored in the execution tab(alt+f2), all lists displaying search results are not optmized, in another way, not sorted by most used.
My screen is 1366x768. |

Something's odd about the saved states - you've entries for
ie. only pivot 768x1366 and apparently your screen is somehow capped by 6px? What's the output of "xrandr -q"? |

So....any idea of what whould I do? Or just reseting my account by deleting the .kde and .config/kde dir's will be the most suitable solution?

In case that's not clear - this is not a helpdesk where professionals wait the entire day to answer your questions. Somebody may or may not drive-by when s/he has time and responds whenever it pleases him/her. Nagging around will not do you any favor in this context.
You're on 1366x768, so that should be written. Try to alter the keys by hand (close all kate windows and use kwrite) Window-Maximized 1360x768=false Window-Maximized 768x1360=false Window-Maximized 768x1366=false Then start kate, maximize it, close it and check whether any of the values changed. If so, kate for some weird reason believes (on writing) that you're on another resolution. If not, the setting isn't actually written at all. If a wrong resolution key is altered, the problem may be in kscreen, move ~/.local/share/kscreen/ away - maybe check its contents on whether it explains the weird resolution consideration. There's btw. NO guarantee that deleting KDE settings/app data will resolve this - and DO NEVER DELETE THEM! Just move them away! |
