Hi,
I'm unable to switch application style after upgrade to plasma 5.5.3 (kubuntu ppa backports). in systemsettings selecting a different widget style doesn't change the style of the applications, and it remains fixed to the default GTK theme. I already removed contents of /var/tmp/kde-seat0/kdecache-$USER/, /var/tmp/kde-seat0, /tmp/kde-seat0 and $KDEHOME to no avail. Setting QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=breeze seems to be the only way to get breeze style working. The DPI of fonts looks very big, though. Any suggestions?

dump the output of "env" (you may strip if from anything that looks too private, but usually it's uncritical.

This line
> QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=appmenu-qt5 kills it (and likely you got not menus either?). No idea where it stems from, but get rid of it. |

That was the culprit! I still had menus, although with many glitches with color backgrounds if using breeze dark colors. It stems from appmenu-qt5 package:
I really don't know why it gets packaged if it is not supposed to work. thanks for help
