When I'm browsing between open application windows with Alt+Tab I only want to be shown the different applications' icons instead of the thumbnails.

E.g. I only want to the the firefox logo then pressing Alt+Tab and not a thumpnail showing the firefox window.

EDIT: Make it more clear what I want.

in systemsettings go to "task switcher" to change the behavior

ps - "as in Gnome" - no idea what you're talking about

I've clarified my question. I hope it should be easier now knowing what I want!

Thank you! First I didn't find the options in the dropdown menu.

Could you answer me what the difference is between the Main and Alternative tabs is?

alternative allows multiple switchers with different shortcuts, note that the shortcut in alternative tab is not yet set
