Hi. I'm using arch linux with SDDM, and when I log into my plasma shell, the panel and the menu have no shadows or transparency, but if I do killall plasmashell; plasmashell in krunner, then I get back the transparency and shadows. I have attached screenshots to show you what I mean.

also, I have used other DEs on this account. I've used GNOME and XFCE and I3 on this account. is it because of that?

I would:

Test if the problem is local: General Troubleshooting - Examine if the problem is local: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=38828

Execute the command:
Code: Select all
qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation

When there are no shadows or transparency and again when there are shadows and transparency. And then compare the information

That is

Konsole:
Code: Select all
qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation > NotWorking.txt

'do killall plasmashell; plasmashell in krunner'
Konsole:
Code: Select all
qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation > Working.txt

With the Kompare ( https://www.kde.org/applications/development/kompare/ )
Code: Select all
kompare -c NotWorking.txt Working.txt

I would also look:
- the Xorg log: /var/log/Xorg.0.log
- the .xsession-errors
- systemd journal

I am really sorry for this super late reply and I really appreciate you helping me. I compared the two files, it said that they were identical. And I checked if the problem is local, it's not. And I noticed another thing, whenever I open up pavucontrol, it looks like this under any theme apart from the adwaita theme:

Also here's the .xsession-errors file. this does have a lot of errors from pavucontrol's theming, but I don't know how to interpret them:

It is, probably, this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361066
