Hi,
maybe someone found this already or made it and I was unable to find it. I'm looking for a theme that looks exactly like the oxygen theme on KDE 4. By exactly I mean as pixel-identical as possible. Same margin, padding, font settings, shadows and such. I switched back from plasma 5 to plasma 4 and the according apps, because of the wasted space and the missing features and bugs I ran into. I hope my distribution used at home supports KDE 4 even if there are no more bug fixes from upstream for at least a while. At work I had to copy the KDE 4 files from home into the FS, because the distribution did not support KDE 4 anymore and I can not use another distribution. Sorry, but who decided that everything should be this flat icon, huge wasted white space undifferentiated blob of buttons/icon that plasma 5 is by default? I can't tell where the title bar ends, the menu starts or the content starts, buttons without highlight and you miss functions because you did not recognize an icon as a button. It gets better with the oxygen theme, but still terrible (for me). And just in case someone wants to know what features are missing (for me) or what bugs I hit - a theme that does look like KDE 4 oxygen (pixel exact) - option to mix and match theme parts (like KDE 4 supported) - window tabbing - different widgets and (active) background per virtual desktop - KDM or something that looks and works identical (lightdm or sddm was a slap in the face, with a hammer) - the widgets from KDE 4 - mostly the CPU widget (did anyone try the included one in the task bar on a 16 core machine? It does not even fit on a 2560 pixel wide screen) - a clock widget that can be customized as the KDE 4 one, including a nice looking calendar with upcoming events without taking half of the screen - I hit the Intel display bug with rendering issues (like high speed flickering of element) on 2 of my computers that I need for daily work. Fine with KDE 4 and same X and drivers. And all this was on the first (and only) 2 days of using plasma 5. So if anyone can suggest a theme and at least the widgets and/or workarounds for missing features, it would be great if you can post that here. Maybe I'll give plasma 5 a chance to prove itself on my non-work critical laptop. |
