Hi there,
I am wondering whether there is any decent browser in plasma5 which has a flawless kwallet integration. In kde4 I tried firefox, but never got in running without keeping the wallet permanently open. Now that project seems dead because according to mozilla the last update is two years ago. Konqueror still use the qt4 framework and doesn't like the kde5 wallet. When asking to store a password, it want's to configurate its own kde4 wallet. The same as for konqueror holds for rekonq. Chromium stores the password in the wallet, but in binary format, which makes it impossible to retieve them in ascii via the wallet manager. This is a nightmare because one needs the application to retrieve the passwords Qupzilla has the same disadvantage as Chromium. Any idea what else to try?? Centralized password storage is one of the key features for giving a desktop environment the label "integrated", especially when one uses password generators, and browsing/internet is probably the place where most passwords are needed. Its a pitty that kde has no "in-house" developed backends for apps like firefox. |

You may, or may not, find a recent thread from the Plasma-devel interesting: Which applications does the Plasma team recommend to use with Plasma? - https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-d ... 55497.html
There are thoughts of various applications and they integration in Plasma. |

For Firefox there is KDE5 Wallet password integration addon
https://addons.mozilla.org/pl/firefox/addon/kde5-wallet-password-integrati/?src=api I don't know how safe it is because passwords are still visible in Firefox but I don't fully understand how it works. For Chromium (and Chromium based browsers like Opera) you can use KeePass and chromeIPass addon https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chromeipass/ompiailgknfdndiefoaoiligalphfdae/related keepasshttp plugin must be added first to KeePass (copy to KeePass folder). For Ubuntu based distros:

I am using it. It works but since I installed it it crashes Firefox at logout.
That doesn't solve the root problem. Personally I avoid any Chrome browser addons which don't come from Google. In fact I try to avoid all browser addons as they get automatically updated and this is a security problem itself. |

Hello,
I think the KDE5 Wallet password integration is dead because there is still no update to the new API and the developer homepage is down. Are there plans to integrate this feature in the new Plasma Browser Integration? Kind regards, Stefan |
