I think is a good idea add rating, tags and comment for folders and files. But a) how it works (I do not see the star selected in Dolphin frame, nor is possible sort by rating)? b) How are stored this metadata (not in the .directory file, I see...)?

i.e

If you set the rating/comments/etc to the file/directory they are saved to the extended file attributes.

What dolphin version are you using?
Actually this should work in dolphin 16.04.0 or later.

But note that the file list only shows ratings (and other additional information) for files that are indexed by baloo.
