Greetings,

If you where in my newbie shoes how would you install KDE Plasma 5.7 (Opensue Leap 42.1 / KDE Plasma) from this repo:
http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...USE_Leap_42.1/

Thank you in advance

You need to add the two repos (KDE:Qt5 and KDE:Frameworks5) and then switch to them.

For a newbie, run this in Konsole:
Code: Select all
sudo zypper ar -f  http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Qt5/openSUSE_Leap_42.1 KDE_Qt5
sudo zypper ar -f  http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Leap_42.1 KDE_KF5
sudo zypper dup --from KDE_Qt5 --from  KDE_KF5

You can do the same in YaST if you prefer:
- Open YaST->Software Repositorities, add the two URLs from above.
- Open YaST->Software Management, click on the "View" button, select "Repositories", choose the first one in the list in the left, then click on "Switch system packages to the versions..." on the top of the package list on the right. Then do the same for the second repo.

In the latter case you may get some conflicts though, choose "upgrade" if possible, or ask if you are unsure.

If you want to have the latest applications as well, you need to add KDE:Applications too and switch the same.
But do the former first, and then ask if unsure, I'd say.

Thank very much.
I have already added those two repos manually to YaST repositories.
I have not been able to move any further. I could not find any Plasma 5.7 in search.

I will give my hard try to follow à la lettre your indications.

YaST (or openSUSE's package management in general) will not automatically switch packages to versions from another repo.
Therefore it will also only show the highest version in the repo where the package is installed from.

Click on the "Versions" tab below the package list to see *all* available versions of a package.

In this particular case, you should do a full switch of all packages to those repos as I explained though, mixing packages from different repos can (and most likely will) lead to problems.
