Hi,
I just wondering about what is the rationale in how search results are displayed in Krunner. If you look at the picture under "Improved Workflow", demonstrating the jump list in Krunner show the search result for "comp". Why does it include the results for "Lokalize", "Qt maintenance tool" and "Default applications"? There are no "comp" in these results. If the word "comp" exist within these applications, the result should at least be give a lower importance than e.g. "Compositor". https://dot.kde.org/2016/06/17/kde-plasma-57-beta I have seen this behaviour many times, and many times the search result shows an unwanted item on the top and the one I want under it. Is this a bug or a feature? If this is a feature and because results are grouped into applications and system setting, I would like to disable this grouping feature. I pretty much know what I am searching for and what is an app and what is a system setting option. This is unecessary helpful. Dajomu |

Lokalize - org.kde.lokalize.desktop: https://github.com/KDE/lokalize/blob/ma ... ze.desktop
There is a 'comp' Default applications (System Settings) This is a kcm module:
There is a 'comp' With the 'Qt maintenance tool' you could dig the Qt desktop files etc. Probably there is the 'comp' somewhere...
You could disable the Krunner search plugins or/and you could file a wish/bug report. An example: Bug 362581 - Run-command window (alt-f2): re-enable 'floating' option: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362581 |

IMHO this is a really good feature. I expect that all applications show up which are somewhat related to the keyword, especially if the name does not match. Some examples: media -> SMPlayer, [...] browser -> QupZilla, [...] texteditor -> Kate, KWrite, Vim terminal -> Yakuake, Konsole voice -> Mumble, Team Speak news -> Akregator
It would be awesome if krunner used its history (query -> application/file/... launched) to enhance the item order. e.g. often launched applications will be displayed at the top. |

Hi,
It is a good thing that you can write browser and it will find a browser for you. The thing is that I think that the obvious should have a higher rank. if I search for Fire, I would expect that an app with that name would show. So Firebird would have a higher ranking than Mozillla Firefox. Results where the search term can be found in the help files or similar should have a lower rank. I do agree it is a nice feature, but the ranking is wrong in my opinion. I guess the taste varies with how one use Krunner. I think the suggestion provided by Scheirle is a good one; "It would be awesome if krunner used its history (query -> application/file/... launched) to enhance the item order. e.g. often launched applications will be displayed at the top."
