Superkey and VMWare

Tue Nov 29, 2016 3:43 pm
Hi everyone,

I've just run into an issue with VMWare, where even with focus in the VM, pressing the superkey will raise the Plasma application launcher. Of course this becomes problematic with a full screen VM where I only want the superkey sent there, but the launcher opens and takes up part of the screen.
I did try this in Gnome as well and it seems to work fine there (ie. superkey is sent only to the VM).
Has anyone else come across this?

I'm running:
Arch Linux
Plasma 5.8
QT 5.7
xorg 1.18.4

Thanks!

I just ran into something that might be related.
I just started a full screen game (Fez in this case) and noticed that the superkey would not open the launcher.
After exiting the game, I was still unable to open the launcher with the superkey, but alt+f1 still worked. I had to log out and back in to be able to use the superkey again.

Anyone have any thoughts?

In case anyone is wondering, I've found a bug report for this issue:

Kicker also opens when remmina is set to capture all keys, so it's not just VMWare with the issue.
