I am currently working on the next stable SolydXK ISOs and Plasma 5 is giving me some headaches. Most of them I've been able to tackle but there's one I simply cannot find a solution for.

Whenever I want to switch from the default Breeze theme to Breeze-Dark some of the applications do not switch theme. I've only seen this happen with the applications I maintain myself which are all Python 3/Gtk+/Glade applications. If you want to see how that looks like, I've posted an image on our forum here: https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.ph ... 244#p64235

.gtkrc-2.0-kde4 is a symbolic link to .gtkrc-2.0 and do change whenever I change the Gtk theme in the system settings. I've tried several themes and none change the widget style of these applications even when I delete the cache. However, if I change widgets theme to Breeze-Dark (the same package: gtk3-engines-breeze) in SolydX (with Xfce4) the applications change theme without an issue which made me think that it is somehow related to Plasma 5, but I'm just guessing here.

Has anybody encountered the same or similar problems with Gtk+/Glade theming?

If you are interested to see what I mean you can check the ISOs here: http://downloads.solydxk.com/ce/testing/schoelje/
They are very experimental and I've only tested them in VirtualBox. So, be careful not to install them on metal ;)

It seems that this only happens with applications that need root permissions and were started with kdesudo.

If I copy my gtk configuration to /root all's well:
Code: Select all
sudo cp -v .gtkrc-2.0 /root/
sudo cp -v .config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini /root/.config/gtk-3.0/

These packages run fine on SolydX (Xfce) where they are started with gksudo. So, I suspect kdesudo is loading the root profile and not the user's profile. It looks like this old bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/205201
