Change directory of KDE cache

Wed Jul 12, 2017 1:53 pm
Hello,

by default, KDE stores some cache data in directory /var/tmp/kdecache-${USER} for every user who logs in with a KDE/Plasma session. In older versions of KDE, that cache directory could be changed by setting a variable named KDEVARTMP in startkde, for example:

export KDEVARTMP="${HOME}/.kdecache"

How can this be done in newer KDE versions, i.e. with plasma-workspace instead of kde-workspace? At least, when I add the above line to startkde now, no ${HOME}/.kdecache is created, but /var/tmp/kdecache-${USER} is.

Regards
Christoph
