Anyone else noticed this odd desktop behaviour?

Hi - I'm new here, so not sure of the correct procedures.

I found what could be a bug - anyone else notice it?

I use Linux Mint 18.2 - KDE Plasma 5.6. The default display manager is SDDM. The APT sources include the Kubuntu Backports PPA, which provides updates to newer versions of the Plasma desktop.

With desktop in folder view, I copy a file from another folder to the desktop. I used fff.mp3 for the example.

I open fff.mp3 in vlc to play it.

I close vlc then rename fff.mp3 to abc.mp3.

I double click abc.mp3 to open it and get the error:

Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder /home/alex/Desktop//fff.mp3 does not exist.

This has happened several times - it's like KDE is trying to find the old file and not use the new filename.

Anyone else / suggestions?

Thanks
