Powerdevil won't start

Sat Aug 18, 2018 11:14 pm
Hi all,

I've been having this issue on my laptop for a couple of months but only just now I had some spare time to actually try and debug it. The thing is that powerdevil starts with the system but then at some point it crashes. The log on the journal isn't really verbose:
The X11 connection broke: Unsupported extension used (code 2)

Trying to start it manually gets some more info but not enough (for me) to know what's going on exactly.
powerdevil: Activity is not forcing a profile
The X11 connection broke: Unsupported extension used (code 2)
XIO: fatal IO error 2 (No such file or directory) on X server ":0"
after 425 requests (425 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I am using plasma 5.13.4 with the frameworks on 5.48.0 and QT 5.11.1 but as I said, this has been happening for a while so the error probably started on a couple of versions earlier.

Does anybody have any idea on how can I try to debug further or how to fix it?

Thanks.

I have kind of the same issue. Very often powerdevil just works after starting up plasma. Only sometimes it doesn't (one time out of five or so). But after I log out and in again it works again. I read on different places much more people with complaints like this. And I never saw a real solution.
I'm using Neon user edition.
I don't understand it.
