In a version of KDE I had before, I could set the wallpaper to a two-colour gradient which I was very happy with. Now I upgraded my Ubuntu installation to 16.04.05 and installed Plasma 5.8.9
Is there something extra to install to get this feature back? I read a post about installing a "minimal" KDE as I don't have a lot of disk space so I simply installed

Background The plasma 4 did have an option to use two color gradients: ![]() The plasma 5 only have the plain/solid color option: ![]() New plugins With the plasma 5 the KDE community can share plasma wallpaper plugins. The KDE Store: https://store.kde.org has an own section for the plasma wallpaper plugins: https://store.kde.org/browse/cat/419/ From the plasma 5.15 onwards the users can download and install the plugins from the KDE System Settings: Bug 386621 - Support downloading Wallpaper Plugins from KDE Store - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386621 A tool: Templates to create your own Plasma Wallpaper plugin - https://frinring.wordpress.com/2018/04/ ... er-plugin/ QML has: - http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qml-qtgraphicalef ... dient.html - http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qml-qtgraphicalef ... dient.html - http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qml-qtgraphicalef ... dient.html With a bit of the Qml code it is possible to wrap a new plugin: ![]() (not released - under work) |

Hi Rog131, thanks for the suggestion to add this via QML plugins but I haven't developed plugins for KDE before. As it turned out, GNOME Flashback had the gradient feature already and swapping was quick. That's too bad because I like KDE better in every other respect.
I will keep the plugin development in mind as a future project. Kind regards, Adam |
