add neon repository to plasma

Wed Jun 19, 2019 4:43 am
Ok people another question. How do I add the neon repository to my plasma so I can easily have access to this package https://cgit.kde.org/wacomtablet.git/.

Side note I'm a newb to Linux, if there is another way to get my Wacom Cintiq working with plasma let me know and please explain it like I'm five because I'm new. Not sure how to go about installing from .git

Thanks again folks!

Neon's repos are for Neon specifically. While technically it should be compatible with Ubuntu/Kubuntu 18.04, it really isn't, not safely, and not a task for a new Linux user to attempt.

Which distro are you using, and which version?

No, you can't add neon to 18.04 without the strong likelihood of a significant mess, unfortunately.
It would be easier to upgrade Kubuntu to 19.04, or install KDE Neon. 19.04 has the wacom tablet config tool you want, the package that has it is called kde-config-tablet if it is not installed there by default.

i've got kubuntu 19.04 that i just installed and one of the first things i did was install kde-full and no issues with it at all so far. installed it, installed the 5.1.7 kernel, latest nvidia drivers for my card, and made sure that plasma updated to 5.16. you will want synaptic or muon to add kde-full. muon is already installed in kubuntu 19.04, can't speak to 18.04. hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch! I will try the upgrade tonight. I got Maya working in Kubuntu, which Autodesk said wasn't possible, so I didn't want to go through that process again or I would just do a clean install for Neon.

Thanks again. Really appreciate the help!
