Suspend/resume freezes laptop

Thu Sep 12, 2019 2:46 pm
I just installed Fedora 30, Plasma 5.15.5 on a new laptop and closing/opening the lid results in a blank screen that is not responsive to Ctrl-Alt-F2. I have spent a couple of days troubleshooting and I haven't been able to find a working solution. It was suggested somewhere that nouveau might be to blame, but I haven't been able to install the NVIDIA drivers through dnf (kernel module load error on reboot)

I'm not sure what information I can post that might be useful, but journalctl says, "ACPI: button: The lid device is not compliant to SW_LID"

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I've found a workaround. (Also, my NVIDIA problems were fixed by turning UEFI secure boot off.)

1. change /etc/UPower/UPower.conf : IgnoreLid=false -> true
2. change /etc/systemd/logind.conf : HandleLidSwitch=suspend -> ignore
3. HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=suspend -> ignore
