Hello, I miss so much the shelves, they were so cool, but, most of all, so ergonomic!
I try to setup the quick launcher in a panel, but I can't make it even close. I have added two icons and enabled the popup, but I've ended up having the two icons listed on the panel, while the popup expands empty. Could it even be done to have icons in the popup area? |

You may be able to drag the icons from the panel into the popup; otherwise you should be able to drag items from the launcher menu into the popup.

I applied a workaround to have something similar.
I created some places and I put some links there. Then I added to the task bar some Folder View widgets and in the settings I checked "Show a Place". Drawback. If you have a lot of applications and files to reorganize my solution requires some patience. |

Well, I could not do this for some reason, in the first place. After locking and unlocking the widgets, seems to work. But it does not respect the settings and displays the names too. And I'd like to be able to arrange the icons horizontally, but it does not work... |

This does not work as I need, it keeps displaying file names as labels, I can't make it icons only and they are arranged on rows (I have 6 items as test). |

Hmm, that is interesting.
You might peruse the options on the KDE Store. A couple of options worth noting: Tiled Quicklaunch, Ditto Menu, Apps by category (which says it was designed based on the original shelf plasmoid)

Believe me, I did, but found nothing. And also found this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353407, marked as fixed. Why? The OP said it's not. And it's still valid. |
