Hello All,
I have a fresh Fedora 31 with KDE Plasma 5.16.5. I can only login after a reboot; if I log out and then attempt to log back in, it hangs. The mouse cursor can be moved, but the session doesn't initialize, and just sits forever on a background image during the KDE session initiation. No menu, no dialog, no anything ever appears. I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting this so please bear with me. Here's the system: Operating System: Fedora 31 KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.61.0 Qt Version: 5.12.5 Kernel Version: 5.3.7-301.fc31.x86_64 OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz Memory: 7.7 GiB of RAM X.Org X Server 1.20.5 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: 5.0.6-200.fc29.x86_64 Current Operating System: Linux prd001 5.3.7-301.fc31.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 21 19:18:58 UTC 2019 x86_64 Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=(hd0,msdos1)/vmlinuz-5.3.7-301.fc31.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/fedora-root ro rd.lvm.lv=fedora/root rd.lvm.lv=fedora/swap rhgb quiet Build Date: 29 August 2019 12:00:00AM Build ID: xorg-x11-server 1.20.5-7.fc31 Current version of pixman: 0.38.4 I tried clearing out cache files and KDE settings back to default...didn't help. I even created a new user account to see if maybe it was something in the settings, but the new account has the same trouble on subsequent logins. This happens 100% of the time on a subsequent login attempt but never happens on first login after a reboot. Please let me know where to look, what logs to check, etc. Thanks, DW |

you should report this to Fedora as a bug
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
