Can not shutdown, restart or logout

Tue Aug 28, 2018 10:08 am
Hi everyone!
Sorry for waking up this old thread but i think I encountered the issue here discussed. No shutdown and reboot button in the plasmoids and the plasma menu.
This occured after updating from 16.04 lts to 18.04 lts (kubuntu)
Here are my specs:
KDE Plasma 5.12.6
Frameworks: 5.44.0
Ot 5.9.5
Kernel: 4.15.0.32-generic

Unfortunately i cannot find the .kde/share/config/ksmserverrc file. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure there have been more recent discussions about this issue elsewhere in the forums.

I will point out that config paths under ~/.kde have moved to use XDG paths, primarily ~/.config/<appname>

You might try creating a new user and see if you have the same problems under that user to see if it is a config issue or a system issue.

Hello,

I have the same issue. I am using Debian 9 and KDE 5.28.0, Plasma 5.8.4/5.8.6.
Additionally I had the following message appearing in .xsession-errors:
Code: Select all
Shutdown called with confirm  -1  type  0  and mode  -1

with confirm and type changing if I was calling a logout or restart. I guess it is just a notification but just in case I mention it.

Hope someone would drop a fix / have a better idea where to look at to pinpoint this issue.

Cheers,
