I just rightclicked the title bar of Spotify to go to "Configure Special Application Settings" and assign it to my spare desktop, but the new setup is more than a bit confusing. Once the settings are open I click add properties and then the Virtual Desktop entry only to have the entry vanish without doing anything. Could use some help on how to use the new setup. Thanks

Which exact action did you choose? I used "Force" and it works perfectly fine
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I used remember once I figured out how to use the revamped Configure Special Application Settings. I posted both here and in the Manjaro forums since I'm running Manjaro KDE, and was helped there with getting it working. Now that said there does seem to be one bug which I'm not sure is Plasma's or Spotify's, and that is if I click Spotify in my shortcuts folder after assigning it to the spare desktop it will always open an the spare desktop. The issue comes up if after assigning Spotify to the spare desktop and launching Spotify from the startpanel or Krunner it will default back to the behavior of opening on the desktop I'm on. I'll try the forced and see what I get and let you know if that corrected the issue. In the mean time is the a tutorial on the new setup? Thanks

Any other under the hood changes for 5.19 you think I should be aware of? Thanks |

Since I am still using 5.18.5 I doubt this was a 5.19 change...
But Plasma 5.19 and its subsequent installments .1 and .2 have extensive changelogs you can check for changes: https://kde.org/announcements/plasma-5. ... -changelog https://kde.org/announcements/plasma-5. ... -changelog https://kde.org/announcements/plasma-5. ... -changelog

Thanks for the links but I do know that that part of the UI did get changed after 5.18.5 cause I know under 5.18.5 I was using Apply Initially not Forced to have apps open to a specific desktop every time they're launched. |

Funny, I use "Force" all the time, because that is what I want to happen, force an app to open exactly there.

Funny up till I went to setup Spotify it has always been "Apply initially". I've played with Linux on and off for about 20 years and not till this last time did I actually take advantage of the multiple desktiops, and after creating threads on Manjaro's and Linuxquestion's forums was told more than once to use "Apply Initially", and that worked perfectly. |

OK now I've just run into another issue and that is I noticed Kate stopped opening on all desktops like I had it set to do. I rightclicked it's titlebar, chose "Configure Special Application Settings", the text in the titlebar flash for a quick second but the settings window didn't launch. I launch Konsiole since it's also set to open on all desktops and it was open on all desktops, but again right click it's titlebar the text flashes for a quick second and "Configure Special Application Settings" doesn't launch. Then I Tried "Configure Special Window Settings" and it wouldn't launch either. Just Now Tried to launch system settings and they won't launch. Any idea what might be causing the issue. Thanks
EDIT: A reboot seems to have resolved the issue. I think it was somehow tied to a needed nVidia driver update, cause on reboot I received an error message from Green With Envy about my driver and after doing a update everything seems to be working fine again. |

The Yast window opens in the same location with the properties saved, but my issue is with the Software Management window. It never saves the selected properties and never opens where I want it to open in Tumbleweed. The properties that I always set are Size and Location (Remember) and Titlebar color scheme (Breeze Dark Force).
The same window in openSUSE 15.2 (KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.71.0) open in the right location and saves the properties just fine. Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20200721 KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.72.0l Qt Version: 5.15.0 Kernel Version: 5.7.9-1-default OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4810MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz Memory: 31.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 4600 |

YaST is the app and then Software Management... https://paste.opensuse.org/71067760 The properties never save for the Software Management Window. https://paste.opensuse.org/47469055 |

You are in the special WIndows Settings, that is not what is suggested above, try the "Special Application Settings" instead...

If you put setting in one, they will show in the other.
Ex: The left show the same setting in both, but nothing is saved for the Software Management window. https://paste.opensuse.org/32556958 |
